A checkered past led to fatal hit-and-run in Silver Spring Township

Reported by: Kyle Rogers

MECHANICSBURG -- Silver Spring Township Police said officers have responded to the home belonging to a woman charged with driving over and killing a man who lived with her.

Esther Brubaker remains behind bars in Cumberland County Prison on a $1 million bail after police say she drove over Jeremy Anderson at her home along Balfour Drive in Cumberland County.

CBS 21 News has learned that both Brubaker and Anderson have had run-ins in the law locally and in Delaware.

In a YouTube video posted by Anderson, he claimed police brutality when officers responded to a disturbance call at a hotel. Anderson apparently became enraged at a hotel clerk when he was denied access to the room belonging to a pregnant Brubaker. During the incident, police stunned Anderson with a Tazer after being unable to handcuff Anderson, according to CBS station WBOC-TV.

Sources told CBS 21 News the video was recorded by Brubaker, but a judge in Delaware justified the actions of the officers.

Neighbors at their home said they have seen several police cars at their residence where they apparently lived for almost three years. In another video posted online, Anderson posted the events of another incident where police were called to the home. He was eventually subdued by officers in the home.

A man, who would not identify himself, at the home Tuesday afternoon was in a state of shock over the events.

“I’m at a loss for words,” he said, adding he misses the kids and did not provide further comment.

A lawyer with the firm representing Brubaker would not provide any comment on Wednesday afternoon.

A source told CBS 21 News the two had a child together and is custody of the Cumberland County Children and Youth.
