Another search for baby now missing for seven weeks comes up empty

York -- Two more false hopes for the family of little Hamza Ali, the York County baby missing since early August.

Another river search turned up empty and a newly discovered bone fragment is not linked to the seven-month-old.

Both of those leads turned up empty, the search for the baby is now in its seventh week

The banks of the Susquehanna River were once again a search point for missing seven-month-old Hamza Ali.

An area near Lake Clarke was drained earlier this week for routine maintenance. Upper Darby Police used cadaver dogs to take advantage of the shallow water opportunity.

Despite several hours of searching, no luck.

A mother we talked to with her own young child feels the pain of the family of missing Hamza.  “Especially a body that little, it could be anywhere and if it's in here,” stated Taylor Eid.

Taylor Eid’s son is just two months younger than Hamza was when he was last seen alive.  As a new mother, she can imagine the desperation.

“I wouldn’t stop I would keep looking until I found him or her it's just devastating I would die if that happened to him,” the young mother told us.

Hamza’s mother’s boyfriend, Ummad Rushdi, is charged with killing the baby on August 4 in Upper Darby.  Rushdi told police he shook the baby to death when he wouldn’t stop crying, then buried him temporarily in Columbia.

They believe Rushdi later moved the baby’s body, but several river searches and searches of Rushdi’s Windsor Township property and nearby landfills have been unsuccessful.

Also this week, a bone found in a field near the Rushdi home was turned over to authorities.  Police now say experts have determined it is likely a bone from a deer, and not a human.

Rushdi’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 7 in Delaware County.
