NEWVILLE -- A football coach at Big Spring High School is facing possible charges and an early end to his season.

According to police, 26-year-old Michael Berry, the head varsity football coach at Big Spring, was cited for public drunkenness over the weekend.

CBS 21 spoke with school administrators today.

Police say at about 3 a.m. Saturday morning, Berry was found to be extremely intoxicated at a residence near the Big Spring administration building.

Big Spring superintendent Richard Fry told CBS 21 that Berry self-reported the incident to the school district.

He has been suspended for the rest of the season, which consists of two more games and all practices.

Last Friday night, Big Spring lost at home, 45-14, to Greencastle-Antrim School District, of southern Franklin County.

CBS 21 reached out to Berry for a comment but haven't heard back.  He was named head coach in January after taking over an interim basis last year.Big Spring coach suspended after public drunkenness charge
