SPRING GARDEN -- A nine-year-old boy in York County is devastated after somebody stole his 100-pound pumpkin from his porch.
Yes, a 100-pound pumpkin.

Jaiden Newcomer won the giant pumpkin at a local fall festival in late September for correctly guessing its weight.

Now, the pumpkin is missing.

Sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, someone or some people stole the sizeable squash from the Newcomer family’s porch along Edison Street in Spring Garden Township.

“It was almost as big as me,” Jaiden said. “Me and my dad couldn’t lift it!”
His mother, Amy, said she was shocked somebody would take it from their home.

Fully decorated for the approaching Halloween, she said whoever poached Jaiden’s pumpkin from their home really upset him and the family.

“He comes out here every morning and every night he comes home from school to see if anybody’s returned it,” she said.

Amy said it took three men, including her husband and father, to even lift the large pumpkin from their vehicle to the front porch. She can not imagine how one person would be able to remove the pumpkin from their porch, so she figures it was a planned mission.

She said the family does not plan to report the theft to police.

“I don’t know what you’d do with a 100-pound pumpkin. We had no idea what to do with a 100-pound pumpkin!” Amy said.

Jaiden hopes the person or persons who stole the pumpkin return it the way they found it.

Anybody with information about it can contact his parents, Amy and Corey, at
