YORK -- Two local representatives want to make sure fallen heroes are remembered.

They've proposed legislation that would name five roads and a traffic circle in York County in honor of lost police officers, a fire chief, and soldiers.

Rep. Seth Grove, R-196, said, "To always know that their memory is going to be there, that there was a significant infrastructure improvement named after them, hopefully it will give them (the family) some peace and they'll know the community is behind them and appreciatesthe sacrifices they've made."

One of the bridges in Dover will be named the Zachary Clouser Memorial Bridge. His mother, Deb Etheridge, says she was overwhelmed when she heard about the bill.

"Zack was magnetic, everybody loved him," she said. "Decades from now, people are going to go across that bridge and they're going to know him. It's going to bring up the fact that this bridge they are driving over - it is a freedom the soldier gave his life for."

Others who will have bridges named after them include Officer David Tome, who was killed on duty in October 2008.

A bridge on Hanover Road in Spring Grove would be named the Cpl. Luke S. Runyan Memorial Bridge. U.S. Army corporal Runyan, a 2004 graduate of Spring Grove Area High School, was killed in Iraq in February 2008.

The bridge named for Runyan would be on Hanover Road near Lake Road.
The Cameron J. Stambaugh Memorial Bridge would honor the NATO service member lost in July 2012 in Afghanistan and would be a bridge on Route 116 in Spring Grove.

The Sgt. Brett E Walden Memorial Bridge would also be in Dover.

The Zachary Clouser bridge will be on Canal Road between the Intermediate Center and Municipal Drive, Dover.

A portion of an Interstate 83 exchange in York County would be named after Loganville Fire Chief Rodney Miller, who was killed while directing traffic in April.

Representative Grove expects the unveiling to take place around January.Bridges in York County to be re-named in honor of fallen heroes
