Coroner, fire crews dispatched to a house fire in York County

Update at 2:40 p.m. Thursday

The York County Coroner has confirmed that Brenda Smith, 48 of Glen Rock, died in the fire Monday night.  Smith was the lone resident at the home.

The York County Coroner has confirmed one body has been removed from the home in Glen Rock.

An explosion, followed by fire, engulfed the home around 9 Monday night. We do know propane was delivered to the home Monday and a new furnace was to be installed Tuesday.

Investigators do not know yet if that was the cause of the explosion/fire.

GLEN ROCK -- The York County Coroner has been called to the scene of a house fire in Codorus Township, York County.

The fire is at a home in the 3000 block of Sticks Road, also known as Route 216.  

When originally dispatched, the fire was called out as a fully involved house fire.  When crews arrived to the home, which is located in a rural area, the fire was quickly upgraded to second alarm.

Crews from both York County and Carroll County, Maryland, are fighting the blaze.  

The American Red Cross is assisting crews on the scene of the fire.
