GRANTVILLE -- The Grantville Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Saul Schmolitz told CBS 21 the fire that destroyed a landmark restaurant is still under investigation.

There were no injuries that he knew of. The state police fire marshal is still investigating, but Schmolitz said having state police investigate is standard protocol for a fire of this magnitude.

The chief wanted to thank the more than 80 volunteers who came to assist on the fire. With everyone’s assistance they were able to put out the fire and go home safely. Some people went from the fire straight to work for the day.

The total loss was more than $1 million. The building was insured.

GRANTVILLE -- A landmark restaurant in Dauphin County has been destroyed after a fire tore through the building.

Crews say flames shot through the roof of the Grantville Restaurant in East Hanover Township when they arrived on scene just after midnight on Monday morning.

Officials tell us getting water to the fire was an issue, since this is a rural area.

The building is considered a total loss, and the cause is still under investigation.
We spoke with a server at the restaurant who tells us the restaurant is "like a family" to her.
