SHREWSBURY -- Emergency crews responded to an accident with an overturned vehicle this afternoon.

At 4 p.m., the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Loganville Fire Company with a reported accident on Interstate 83 Southbound.  The accident was reported to be at Exit 10 with a vehicle overturned onto a guardrail.

Rescue 61 responded and was advised by emergency services units on location the accident was on Southbound I-83 at the Springfield/York Township line. Reports from units on location said one occupant was confined inside the vehicle and the vehicle was partially up a guardrail.

Rescue 61 arrived and personnel stabilized the vehicle so it would not move while removing the occupant. Once the vehicle was stable FD and EMS personnel removed the single occupant onto a long spine board. The patient was moved to Jacobus MICU 18 and transported to York Hospital.

Over the past four weeks I-83 has had several serious accidents with multiple patients. Tuesday's accident was the second one recently that Shrewsbury responded to with people trapped.

The fire company urges people to drive safely, pay attention to their surroundings, and be on the lookout for deer, as the company has had multiple deer-versus-car incidents near I-83.Driver trapped when car hits guide rail on I-83
