YORK CITY -- In York County, a man convicted of keeping his five children hidden from the world in a condemned house will not get a new trial.

Sinhue Johnson appealed his case to the state superior court after he was convicted of child endangerment last March.

He claims that his kids were healthy and taken away for no reason. His children didn't have birth certificates or social security numbers, they had never seen a doctor, and were never enrolled in school.

Court documents say the children were being kept at a condemned house in filthy conditions. The children were placed in foster care.

A judge denied a new trial, saying Johnson chose not to use resources and shelters available to him, but instead purposely chose the dangerous living environment.Father accused of keeping children in squalor denied new trial
