Former City Islander Hotchkin shot in attemped homicide

WEST CHESTER -- Former Harrisburg City Islanders and current Harrisburg Heat soccer player Jason Hotchkin is in critical condition after being shot multiple times during a fight in West Chester.

Monday morning, hospital officials told us he was in critical condition. But officials now say he has downgraded to critical condition.

West Chester police say that a fight broke out in the 50 block of North Church Street just after 2:00am Sunday morning. During the fight, Hotchkin, 35, was shot multiple times in the arms, legs and back. He was transported to Paoli Memorial Hospital where he was originally listed in critical condition.

Police have arrested 25-year-old Curtis Zebley of Kennet Square for the shooting. He is facing charges of Attempted Homicide among others.

West Chester is located about an hour east of Lancaster.

Hotchkin retired from the City Islanders in 2012 and played 13 games this past season with the Heat indoor team. He is currently a coach with the Capital Area Soccer Association. Hotchkin was in the West Chester area for a youth event.

He led the City Islanders in scoring in 2010 and helped lead the team the following season to the USL Pro finals. He also played professionally with the Charlotte Eagles, Wilmington Hammerheads and Cleveland City Stars.

Another Harrisburg man, 35-year-old Maffat Odour, who also played for the City Islanders, was treated for minor injuries resulting from the fight.
