HANOVER -- A Hanover couple no longer has their children after the county took them away.  Now, the mother of the children who just got out of jail is only speaking to CBS 21 news.

Kimberly Goldsmith had just posted bail when CBS 21 spoke to her. She admitted to making mistakes, which involve drugs, but she said what happened was not her fault.

“Yes, yes I do. And then I don’t. And I do.” That is how Kimberly Goldsmith responded when asked if she understands why the county took her kids away.

Kimberly and her husband, Robert Goldsmith, were arrested for endangering the welfare of their children.

“It was an accident,” Goldsmith said.  “I have a two-year-old who likes to run around and get out of the house.”

According to police, their youngest child wondered off while Robert was so intoxicated he couldn’t stand, walk or talk. Police say he even defecated in his pants and on the floor of their home.

York County took custody of both children; the couple also has a six-year-old. Neighbors tell CBS 21 they are not surprised this happened because drugs are an issue in the home.

Goldsmith admitted that her husband has a drug issue, but said she doesn’t.

Although she did say she needs to “get my affairs in order to where I can’t deal with Rob’s problems. I have to deal with mine.”

The couple moved from inner-city Baltimore two years ago to get away from the crime, but it ended up followed them. Robert has already been arrested multiple times this year and now they have lost their kids.

Kimberley says her mission now is to get them back.

“I love my babies. Yeah, I’ll get them back. It will take a little time,” she said.

Robert Goldsmith remains in jail on $20,000 bail.
