SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP -- Police in Susquehanna Township have charged a man with allegedly killing his father and dumping the body behind a Days Inn Hotel.

Trent Tolene is no stranger to police; he was arrested for DUI and theft of leased property back in April, which is about the same time his father went missing.

Tolene was already in prison on the DUI and theft charges when he was arraigned Thursday on the criminal homicide charge.

Tolene and his father, 65-year-old James Tommor, had been staying at the Days Inn on Front Street when Tommor was reported missing.

Housekeeping staff found part of a carpet cut out and blood stains in the room where the two men had been staying.

The next day, police pulled Tolene over and charged him with DUI and theft of leased property because he was driving a rental car that was supposed to have been returned.

Later, police found Tommer's body dumped behind the Days Inn, covered in a tarp.

Investigators say Tolene refused to cooperate with them on the homicide investigation. Carpet fiber and blood spatter evidence found in a box with Tolene's clothing in the rental car is being used against him and is what led to Thursday's charges.

Tolene's mother spoke to CBS 21 about the charges her son is facing.

"He's always been a very good son. He's the seventh of my eight children and loved James very much. He would never intentionally want to hurt any body," Valerie Tolene said.

When police found Tommor's body, they said they found injuries to his face and head. The Dauphin County coroner says Tommor died from multiple traumatic injuries including a spinal fracture near the collarbone.

Tolene's preliminary hearing on the criminal homicide and tampering with evidence charges he's facing is scheduled for next week.
