WILLIAMSPORT  -- U.S. Marshals announced today the arrest Duane Demellier, 32, in Athens, PA.

In August 1998, Demellier was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse in New York. This conviction required him to register as a convicted sex offender.

In April 2006, Demellier registered his home address in Pennsylvania, and as recently as January, he registered his address in Sayre. But in April and July, Demellier failed to verify his home address as required by Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law.

In August, an arrest warrant was issued charging Demellier with two counts of failing to verify his address and two counts of failing to provide accurate registration information.

During the afternoon hours of Sept. 12, deputy marshals based in Williamsport and task force personnel located and arrested Demellier without incident in the 400 block of Church Street in Athens. Demellier was turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police for processing.New York man arrested for Megan's Law violations
