Police make arrest in connection to assault of Boiling Springs teen

Bloomsburg Police tell CBS 21 News they have made an arrest in connection to the assault of Boiling Springs teen, Jackie Lithgow. Police say they are looking for the 2nd suspect.

Police say the suspect was arrested and arraigned in Kutztown and is being transported to Bloomsburg.

The police chief says at that the suspects could face several aggravated assault charges and simple assault charges.

Lithgow remains in critical condition at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

A spokesperson for Kutztown University tells CBS 21 News that Angel Cruz, a member of the football team, was the suspect arrested. Charging documents show that Cruz has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and disorderly conduct.

His was arraigned Thursday evening and will have his preliminary hearing in March. 

Kutztown University released this statement:

"First and foremost, our hearts go out to the injured students and their families and friends.   Our hope is that they will experience a full and speedy recovery.
Regarding the Kutztown student involved, we have fully cooperated with the authorities in Bloomsburg with their investigation.   This is clearly behavior that we will not tolerate, and is in no way representative of our student body.  The alleged perpetrator who is a current student-athlete has been suspended from participation on the KU football team pending the outcome of the case.
KU officials will continue to assist Bloomsburg officials in whatever manner possible going forward."    Police make arrest in connection to assault of Boiling Springs teen
