Updated: Monday, October 28 2013, 09:29 AM CDT
A Shippensburg man is facing charges after stealing the same car twice and leaving a note demanding $500.

The car was first stolen on October 24th from the 200 block of Roxbury Road in Shippensburg. Police say the 1999 Volkswagon Beetle was recovered the next day, but the key to the car was not located.

The car was returned to the victim later that day.

Police received a call from the victim a few days later, stating that a letter, demanding the victim to leave $500 for the key to be returned, was found on the car. The letter went on to say if the money was not there or they saw police around the car, the suspect would take both vehicles and they would never see them again.

On October 27th, police say the suspect Erich Alexander Michael Simpson, 21, returned to the victim's house and took the car again. Shippensburg Police were able to catch up to Simpson, due to surveillance being conducted at the time. Officers caught up with him on Philadelphia Avenue, near the Chambersburg Borough line.

Simpson was arrested and taken to Cumberland County Booking  Center. Police: Man steals same car twice, leaves note demanding $500
