CARLISLE -- Deciding to become a dog owner is a decision that should never be taken lightly. It requires a lot of dedication and responsibility to care for another living creature.

That doesn't mean it can't be a little frustrating trying to train a puppy to make life easier on both owner and pet.

The trainers at Good Dog Rising want to help make that task a little easier and on Saturday they offered a free (for humans) "Puppy Right Start" program.

The goal of the program is to help young pups, under five months old, get off on the right paw.

They program introduced puppies to socialization with other dogs and covered common topics with the owners including house training, manners and how to break bad habits like chewing and counter surfing.

Good Dog Rising offers classes and services all year round as well as K-9 sports, behavioral consultation and fun with other dog lovers.
