The search has now gone nationwide for 11-year-old Caitlyn Virts, who was reported missing on Thursday in Maryland.

On Thursday morning, Maryland State Police issued an amber alert for Virts, after they say her father abducted her.  On Friday morning, officers put out a warrant for Virts' arrest, for the murder of Caitlyn's mother.

Officials expanded the Amber Alert to cover West Virginia on Thursday night, after finding out Timothy had connections there.

Now the FBI has expanded the search nationwide.

Timothy's father is pleading to his son and asking him not to harm Caitlyn. He says he wants him to know there's a way out.  "If he tells me where to pick her up, it'll be between him and I. He can go on his way. and the cops just got to do what they want to do however they want to do it," said Keith Virts.

The case unfolded on Thursday when police found Caitlyn's mother, Bobbi Jo Cortez, dead inside her home.
