UPDATE: Amtrak line between Harrisburg and Lancaster restored

Updated: Tuesday, December 31 2013, 04:45 AM CST
UPDATE: 5:43 A.M.

Amtrak service between Harrisburg and Lancaster has now been restored.

Passengers traveling between Lancaster and Harrisburg, Pa., can expect residual delays of 10 to 30 minutes when traveling through the area this morning.

Train tracks are blocked between Harrisburg and Lancaster after a boulder fell on the tracks.

The boulder fell on the tracks in the area of Elizabethtown.  A train that was headed from Harrisburg to Lancaster and then on to Philadelphia has been reversed back to Harrisburg.

At this time it is believed that the rails could be damaged.  There is no alternate route and it is unknown when the rails will reopen.

According to Amtrak, passengers who have paid but choose not to travel due to this service disruption can receive a refund or a voucher for future travel. Some reservations booked online can be modified or canceled on or by using their mobile app.  UPDATE: Amtrak line between Harrisburg and Lancaster restored
