UPDATED 10:19 P.M.

HANOVER -- A police officer and the man he shot are in the hospital tonight after a violent altercation in a Hanover home, and neighbors are not surprised this happened.

Neighbors here tell CBS 21 the house is a well-known drug house, and what happened tonight is similar to things have happened before.

This started around 6:30 p.m. in the 300 block of East Middle Street.

State Police and the drug task force were serving two warrants in the house when a third person, Joshua M. Harding, 30, became combative. Police say it is unknown why Harding was in the apartment.

Harding allegedly hit a police officer over the head multiple times, and began to overpower him.  The Trooper then shot Harding in the chest. He was flown to York Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The trooper also was injured and taken to the hospital, but he was not shot. The trooper had 3 staples but in his head and sustained injuries to his hand and face. He was placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.

Officers later learned that Harding has a parole violation warrant out for his arrest with an underlying offense of person not to possess firearms.

Neighbors also tell CBS 21 this is a well-known drug house that was raided less than a year ago and about six months ago shots were fired. Warren Wagner was in his kitchen at the time and heard the shots.

"I have a hunting license and stuff. I know gun noises and it was definitely two shots I heard. Not sure what the whole story was. Im just listening to people talk and there's definitely something going on that shouldn't be," Wagner said.

Right now, police are waiting on a warrant to search the house. The two people they were after were served the warrants. They were both taken to York County Prison.

HANOVER -- State police have released preliminary information on a shooting this afternoon in Hanover.

At around 4:45 p.m. today, members of the State Police and the Drug Task Force attempted to serve two warrants at a residence in the 300 hundred block of East Middle Street.

During the attempt, a third actor entered the residence. This person became combative and disobeyed commands and a physical altercation ensued.

During this altercation, the person was shot by police. The person was airlifted to York Hospital. The involved officers sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The two individuals with warrants were taken into custody. The York County District Attorney, state police, and Hanover Police are currently on scene investigating. No further details are available at this time.

CBS 21's Chris Papst was on the scene. Next-door neighbors told him that shots were fired there six months ago and police raided the house less than a year ago. That neighbor said the house is a known drug house.

Other witnesses at the scene said they saw police take at least two people out in handcuffs. Other neighbors also said this house is known to be a drug house.UPDATED: Officer involved in shooting in Hanover, one suspect and two cops sent to hospital
