A York County family is out of their home after it was destroyed in a two alarm fire on Thursday morning.

There is no official word on a cause -- but there are reports the fire could have been caused by a heater or furnace.

Flames broke out just after 12:30 Thursday morning in the 1100 block of Frysville Road in Windsor Township.

Officials say flames were shooting out of the windows when they arrived.

It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

Charlie Hose, Fire Chief of Yorkana Fire Company, sends a reminder for homeowners as these cold temperatures move in.

"I would encourage homeowners to check their furnaces before they light them off for the first time or start them up. Wood stoves, same thing."

3 people were home at the time, but made it out safely. Their home is destroyed and they are now staying with family.

The Red Cross was on scene to assist firefighters.

The Fire Marshal is investigating a cause, so stay with us for updates.
