NEWBERRY TOWNSHIP -- A masked armed robber held up a York County convenience store, but got away with nothing.

The mask, described as "devil-themed," covered his entire face.

LeeAnne Duke and her family run the A & J Shoppette on York Haven Road in Newberry Township. Her son Jody was watching the store Sunday evening. Around 9:45, the masked male  burst in, holding a bag in one hand and showing a gun in another. He demanded money.

Surveillance video shows that instead of being afraid of the masked man, the clerk just looked at him. Then the clerk told the robber to, "get the f--- out." The robber left, looking defeated, and with no money.

To make the story even more ironic, Duke says her son had been watching horror movies all day on the TV in the store.

"He thought it was a prank. He'd been watching 'Friday the 13th' and 'Halloween,' and when the kid came in with a mask he just thought it was a prank. So he told him to get out," she said.

It wasn't until the next day, Monday, when Duke viewed the video herself that knew it was a real robbery attempt at that point and called police.

Since the crook was wearing a mask, police only have a vague description. They are looking for a younger-aged male, about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds.Would-be robber wears devil mask, clerk laughs
