HARRISBURG -- Virginia junior outfielder Derek Fisher had successful surgery Monday on the broken bone in his wrist.

Fisher's doctor said the procedure went "perfectly," according to Fisher's father, Jim.

Derek Fisher, a Cedar Crest grad and possible first-round pick in the June draft, broke the hamate bone in his right wrist during a March 8-9 series against Duke. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks of action.

A 2014 preseason All-American, Fisher started each of the Cavaliers' first 14 games this season in left field. He is batting .333 with four doubles and seven RBI.

Twitter users around the country have offered Fisher their best wishes.

The Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League tweeted out "Keeping '13 @HarwichMariners Derek Fisher in our thoughts as he recovers from injury." Fisher was recognized last summer as one of the best prospects in the Cape league.

Kevin Wilson, a professional hitting coach from the Philadelphia-area, also sent his best wishes via Twitter. "@DeFish23 stay positive my man! You'll be back to that #GoodBatting before you know it!" Wilson once played for the Lancaster Barnstormers.

Fisher was a sixth-round selection of the Texas Rangers in high school.
