Hershey girls win PIAA swim meet; Raab nets record

LEWISBURG -- Hershey swimmer Meaghan Raab set another PIAA record and the Hershey girls' team claimed another Class AAA title at the PIAA Swimming Championships at Bucknell University.

Raab won the 100 backstroke in 53.08 for her 13th career gold medal. Her 100 back time of 53.08 broke the old record of 53.70 set last year by Christina Leander of West Chester East.

Hershey finished with a team score of 280, beating North Allegheny (235) and North Penn (189).

CBS 21 News later learned Hershey set a new state record in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:21:34, which narrowly missed being a new national record, as well.

Vivi Tafuto of Hershey won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:01.81; while her teammate Madelyn Veith captured the 100 free in 50.45, just .01 ahead of Siena Salvaggio of Parkland.

Sabrina Mortell of Cumberland Valley won the 500 free with a time of 4:52.55.
