HARRISBURG -- The Philadelphia Union has loaned midfielders Cristhian Hernandez and Jimmy McLaughlin to the Harrisburg City Islanders, the City Islanders announced.

Both Hernandez and McLaughlin played for Harrisburg in 2013, as well.

Hernandez, 20, appeared in 20 games, scoring four goals and adding four assists. McLaughlin, 20, scored five goals in 23 games.

Each player may be recalled by Philadelphia, Harrisburg's Major League Soccer parent club.

“Jimmy and Cristhian are still young professionals who need to play in meaningful matches," Union team manager John Hackworth said in a statement. “We think that going to our USL affiliate Harrisburg City Islanders gives them an opportunity to continue their development under coach Becher while playing in real games and helping the team this season.”

Harrisburg begins the USL PRO season on April 5 at Wilmington.
